about

Weather app inspired by chef eyal shani. The app creates a connection between weather, emotions, and food, providing users with culinary content and recipes tailored to the current atmospheric conditions.

research

I analyzed interviews with Eyal Shani which became the foundation for the app’s copywriting, aiming to build a unique tone of voice that breaks away from generic weather forecast language. In parallel, I identified prominent characteristics of his persona that formed the basis for the design system: Rawness, Folklore, Respect for every ingredient and Poetic language.

the design challenge

Translating meteorological data into an emotional experience in a digital interface. Building a design system that represents a colorful character while maintaining a raw, minimalist aesthetic.

the solution

A typography-focused design that redefines the standard weather app hierarchy. By replacing complex graphs with bold, poetic type and copywriting, dry meteorological data is transformed into a compelling story.

Information Architecture

Unlike standard weather apps, I separated each meteorological data point into its own independent screen. This decision was inspired by Eyal Shani’s deep admiration for raw ingredients, giving each element its own exclusive stage.

Iconography

I developed a “raw” iconography style based on simple geometric shapes, drawing inspiration from the intentional simplicity and directness of his cooking techniques.

Color Palette

I selected highly saturated background colors that shift between screens, reflecting his vibrant and surprising persona. The bold colors represent his unique character while creating a clear visual distinction between different data points.
